Sustainability at the Cresta Palace Celerina
Surrounded by beautiful, partly untouched nature, we are aware that our actions in such a sensitive environment come with responsibility. That is why we work and live in harmony with nature.
Our commitment is wide-ranging and aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations, as well as with the sustainability strategy of Swisstainable. Our shared aim is to contribute to sustainable tourism in Switzerland. In our daily actions and all decisions, we consistently take sustainability into account.

The guiding principle is waste reduction and waste avoidance wherever possible!
It is very important to us to avoid (single-use) plastic – therefore, in your room you will find unpackaged slippers, ecological and sustainable bathroom amenities made from cotton, cornstarch and wood, packaged in StonePaper made from 100% recycled paper and cardboard.
We do away with garbage bags and clean your garbage can instead.
In your minibar and in the restaurant, we use returnable glass bottles.
Did you know that your room key card was made from FSC-certified wood and wood waste?
Residual waste is sorted at Cresta Palace and disposed of or recycled professionally.

Not interchangeable «sustainable», but uniquely «Swisstainable»
The Cresta Palace Celerina, like the other member hotels of Private Selection Hotels & Tours, participates in the "Swisstainable" sustainability program and has been classified with the Swisstainable committed certificate since 2022. This sustainability strategy, launched by Switzerland Tourism, focuses on awareness and enjoyment rather than deprivation. With the Swiss Federal Council's commitment to a climate-neutral Switzerland by 2050, sustainability plays a central role in the tourism industry – our joint actions consider the environmental, social, and economic dimensions. Did you know? Switzerland aims to become the world's most sustainable destination! You and we are part of this shared journey.

E-mobility & public transport
We contribute to reducing our and your ecological footprint through various measures.
You can charge your own electric vehicle at one of our e-charging stations.
Thanks to our participation in the "Public Transport Included Program," you can use public transport in the Upper Engadine free of charge for stays of two nights or more. The advantage? You can experience the unique landscape at any time and reach your destination in an environmentally friendly way. A win-win!

At Cresta Palace, we treat each other as equals – with our guests and with our team members. Mutual respect and consideration for the individual needs of our employees, flat hierarchies, and fair pay are fundamental to everything we do. Key positions are filled with equal representation of men and women and are paid equally. We are proud of our young, dynamic, innovative, multinational, and multilingual team.

A GOOD CHOICE
When choosing our partners, we also make sure that they – just like us – focus on sustainable corporate management.
Here we'd like to tell you about Team Dr. Joseph, Caffè Carlito, and Mühldorfer – one produces skincare products, another coffee, and the latter processes down into bedding. All products we use every day, yet we often don't realize where they come from or how they are produced. What they have in common: the highest quality and sustainability in every respect!
We are proud of our choice of partner – and you will enjoy high-quality, natural care products as well as the unmistakable aroma of coffee, the result of careful selection, hand-harvesting, and drum roasting using traditional methods. Thanks to Mühldorfer duvets and pillows, you'll sleep especially well at 1,700 meters above sea level!

“Each individual is a drop, together we are an ocean” – Ryunosuke Satoro
With your support, we save water and energy – we change your towels when they're on the floor, and your bed linen upon request. Together, we make a small contribution every day to using our resources responsibly.
For the sake of the environment, please use only as many bath towels as you really need at the VITA PURA SPA.
Green Cleaning – all areas of the hotel are cleaned using environmentally friendly micro-dry steam devices. The revolutionary advantage: no water pollution from cleaning agents or the use of chemicals. Water consumption is drastically reduced, and thermal disinfection inactivates germs and viruses. Where necessary, we use eco-friendly cleaning products for a perfectly clean result. A benefit for our staff – the physical strain is significantly reduced.

The Engadine is definitely a place to let your gaze wander into the distance.
But have you ever taken a look at our undeveloped wildflower meadow in the summer?
A true paradise for insects, animals and flowers!
Equally remarkable is the old tree population in the hotel park – a perfect nesting place for birds.
Even inside the hotel, nature has found its way in – reminiscent of earlier times. Thanks to an intelligent plant concept by oxygen at work, the indoor climate is sustainably optimized.

CONTINUOUS REVIEW OF OUR PROCESSES
The Cresta Palace, with its size, offerings and age, consumes a considerable amount of energy – we continuously review our processes and ask where energy can be saved, thus conserving resources and reducing CO2 emissions.
The gradual replacement of incandescent bulbs with LEDs is a standard practice; the installation of motion detectors and timers in guest and staff areas, peak load optimization, and raising employee awareness are further steps. A positive effect of the west wing's renovation is improved energy efficiency.
In benchmark tests conducted by the Energy Agency of the Economy (EnAW) and in comparison with other hotels of similar size, we perform very well in terms of electricity consumption and CO2 emissions.
